About the Employer

I am a 58 year old man suffering from a severe spinal injury (Quadriplegic), Been paralysed since 19 years old after a car accident. I have good sense of humour and personality and easy going. I live in an extension on the side of family home and have a younger brother as my main carer in daily life. The job is to help with holiday and sickness cover of my 2 permanent carers on a casual basis throughout the year. Monday, Wednesday and Fridays mornings are bath days working alongside another carer. Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings are working alone to help me get washed, dressed and up in my wheelchair with a host. The morning hours are 1 hour 15 mins and Monday to Friday evenings are 1 hour 15 mins ( helping get me in bed/undressed/washed plus extra social care hours. The carers holidays are counted in hours which equate to mornings from around 9am for 1 hour 15 mins and the same time for the evenings ( exclude Saturday and Sunday nights as my brother helps me in bed on these nights).

Duties and Responsibilities
• Support and/or prompt with personal care. This may include toileting, showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed, getting dressed.
• Support and/or prompt with cooking/meal preparation and eating meals/drinks.
• Support and/or prompt the individual to take medication.
• Assist with household chores and general homemaking.

Only candidates aged 18 or over should apply for this position as you will be required to administer medication.


The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.

Required Training
Successful candidates are required to undertake any training that is considered necessary and appropriate to the role.

Moving and Handling. Training will be provided by the employer.Being available throughout the year to cover holidays or sickness, local to Louth is easier.
