We are delighted to be able to re-launch the Beecham Family Award.

Beecham Family Award 2024!

APPLICATIONS OPEN!

We are pleased to announce that the Beecham Family Award 2024 is now open for applications. This award offers grants of up to £500 to individuals who use Penderels Trust services, helping them to improve their wellbeing and independence.

Who are the Beecham Family?

The Beechams were a family whose children, Julie and Jonathan, were supported over many years by Penderels Trust. Julie and Jonathan were born with cerebral palsy and were supported by the Trust to live full, independent lives. Jonathan passed away in 2000 and Julie lived until 2011. Following Jonathan's death, their parents, Terry and Jean, established an award in his honour which was given out each year to people with disabilities to improve the quality of their lives.

In 2018, following the deaths of Terry and Jean within a few months of one another, Penderels Trust received a bequest in their will in recognition of the work we have done with Jonathan and Julie. We have used this to set up a permanent fund which has allowed us to re-establish the Beecham Family Award.

What is the Beecham Family Award?

The Beecham Family Award is a scheme open to anyone who uses Penderels Trust services. Awards will be made to cover the total cost of something that will improve wellbeing and independence up to a maximum of £500 per award. To continue Terry and Jean's legacy, we relaunched the award in 2022. We are pleased we are able to offer further grants in 2024 to individuals who use our services.

You could apply for the award to cover the cost of a trip, a holiday, a day out or for some equipment. The guidance notes which give more information can be viewed and downloaded here (Beecham Family Award Guidance Notes). We recommend you read these before completing your application. Someone else can complete the application form on your behalf but the award must be for something that benefits the person who receives Penderels Trust services.
