I am the employer and mother to my son who has been allocated a direct payment to support him with all day to day tasks, personal care, and overnight support in his own home when I take a weekend break, assisting him on social activities outside of the home, managing the household and occasionally attending appointments. My son resides at home with me. His diagnosis is profound learning difficulties , as he functions at the age of around 3 years old, he has a rara chromosome disorder which affects his mobility, due to one leg being shorter than the other, so he has mobility issues which requires him to use an electric wheelchair when out and about. He can get around the house using the furniture or those caring for him to assist him, support him to balance as he maneuvers. His electric wheelchair is controlled by those who support him in the community. For the PA role a DRIVER IS ESSENTIAL AS THEY WILL USE MOBILITY VEHICLE. CLEAN LICENCE The staff team have access to a private room within the house for overnights stays and will be required to maintain all areas that the staff and my son use within the home, My son is very sociable and likes the company of others, he enjoys a range of activities within the home such as completing jigsaws, playing with building blocks, listening to music, watching TV and using his IPAD He particularly loves being outdoors and going to parks, going to the seaside and venturing further afield to Saltburn by the Sea or Northumberland, exploring new places and seeing new things. When on outings all support is 2 to 1 staffing due to his needs and vulnerability. We are seeking a PA to join our small established team in providing the care and support required to maximise his day to day life
