About the Employer

I am the employer and service user who has access to a direct payment for a PA to assist me with social outings, domestic duties around the home, supporting me to manage and attend appointments and prompting me to take medication. I have a diagnosis of schizophrenia, learning difficulties and diabetes and some mobility issues which I mange by using a walking aid. I have diabetes but manage this well , I do not take medication for this and I am regularly reviewed via my GP. I live in sheltered accommodation and have support on a Friday and over the weekend, so the PA would be required to support me over two days flexible between a Monday and Thursday. This can be agreed week by week depending on commitments. Tasks I will require from a PA is to support me with washing, general housekeeping and tidying. Assist me to ensure perishable foods are monitored and stored appropriately. Assisting me to access activities and events in the community such as going for a coffee, eating out, going for walks or visits to the beach. going to the cinema and theatre on occasions. I am able to mange my own personal care and have a good level of independence. I am looking for someone who has a good sense of humour and motivation to get involved and to provide me with friendship and companionship

Duties and Responsibilities
• Support and/or prompt the individual to take medication.
• Assist with household chores and general homemaking.
• Support and/or prompt to attend appointments as necessary, e.g. hospital/doctors.
• Support and/or prompt the individual to access sporting and leisure activities.
• Assist and encourage socialisation, participating in activities.
• Promote and encourage friendships and independence.
• Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.
• Support with managing paperwork & correspondence.



The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.

Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered).

Transport Requirement

Car driver and car owner – must have business insurance.

• Have a lively personality.
