When you are Required


Specific days/times required:
• Monday, Morning call before school minimum 1 hour, afternoon call after school for minimum 2 hours
• Tuesday, Morning call before school minimum 1 hour, afternoon call after school for minimum 2 hours
• Wednesday, Morning call before school minimum 1 hour, afternoon call after school for minimum 2 hours
• Thursday, Morning call before school minimum 1 hour, afternoon call after school for minimum 2 hours
• Friday, Morning call before school minimum 1 hour, afternoon call after school for minimum 2 hours
• Saturday, If available, around 10am for a minimum of 2 hours
• Sunday, If available, ad hoc. Only a few times a year
Dates and times are flexible and can be discussed at interview.

About the Employer

SEN Teaching Assistant / Carer: To assist our 'cheeky' young daughter with Cerebral Palsy, who is non-verbal and has the developmental age of a two year old. Car driver required as we live in rural area without public transport. Applicant must reside near Galleywood, Chelmsford.

 

During the weekdays we require 2 calls each day. Times are flexible and can be discussed. Morning calls usually start around 7am. At least 1 hour is required to help our daughter get ready for school. Afternoon calls usually start before 4pm to coincide with our daughter returning from school and these last at least 2 hours.

 

On Saturday mornings we require 1 call for a minimum of 2 hours, usually between 10am and 1pm. This is very flexible and can be discussed.  Very occasionally work on Sundays will be offered

 

During the summer holidays, according to availability, 1 call 2-4 hours. This is very flexible. Please feel free to apply and discuss your availability as happy to accommodate job sharing.

About the Role


Duties and Responsibilities
• Support and/or prompt with personal care. This may include toileting, showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed, getting dressed.
• Support and/or prompt with cooking/meal preparation and eating meals/drinks.
• Assist with household chores and general homemaking.
• Support and/or prompt the individual to access sporting and leisure activities.
• Assist and encourage socialisation, participating in activities.
• Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.



The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.

Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered).

Transport Requirement

Car driver preferred but not essential.

• Have a lively personality.

Required Training
Successful candidates are required to undertake any training that is considered necessary and appropriate to the role.

Moving and Handling. Training will be provided by the employer.
First Aid. Training will be provided by the employer.
Epilepsy. Training will be provided by the employer.
