I am the employer and mother to my young daughter who has been allocated a direct payment to provide PA support to allow me a break from my caring role and provide my daughter opportunities of social outings and activities, or to support her within the family home. My daughter is physically impaired and is undergoing assessments for a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy within the Uk. My daughter is non mobile, nonverbal and requires assistance with all personal care tasks. She wears nappies and requires support with feeding. My daughter can be transported in her push chair however we are awaiting the arrival of a wheelchair which will better support her when out and about of the family home. Whilst nonverbal, my daughter has a beautiful smile and can communicate if she is happy or sad through making sounds or facial gestures. My daughter is extremely isolated and is awaiting a school placement, so the PA support would be a welcome benefit, in allowing her to access the community and outdoors, and providing a companion other than those who are direct family members The PA would be required to offer companionship and social activities, Personal care and allow me a break from my caring role and opportunity to spend time with her siblings. Support with feeding, administering medication if required and assisting her with his physical exercises My daughter requires 24-hour support, so close supervision is required at all time. Occasional support may be required to accompany my daughter and I to appointments
