I am looking for a Personal Assistant to assist and support my 26 year old son, who has cerebral palsy and associated learning disabilities, with social activities and general day to day living. He has interests including music, cinema, computers, attending social functions, gardening, baking, swimming and sports. Due to the potential of seizures, epilepsy awareness and an understanding of how this affects a person would be beneficial.
Some personal care support.
Meal / snack preparation.
Helping whilst out at social activities.
Researching and identifying social activities both outside in the community and within the family home.
Supporting with mobility, ensuring safety.
Supporting mother in her caring role.
Driving him to appointments and social activities. (mileage paid).
Assisting with management of his health risks and highlighting health and safety concerns.
Establishing and maintaining effective communication.
Driver with car essential.
Experience of providing personal care preferred.
Experience of epilepsy preferred.
Good sense of humour.
Able to understand and deliver the needs of the disabled person.
Able to undertake domestic duties.
Able to push a wheelchair short distances.
Flexible, reliable and honest.
An enhanced DBS check will be required.
Must be comfortable with the family dog.
Hours to be worked either through the day on Wednesday or on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Can be flexible.
