Shirley is about to be 90 years old. She moved to Sandfields Care Home from Newcastle Upon Tyne after recovering from a hip operation. Her husband of 60 years died two years ago. She is still frail and can walk with support of a zimmer frame, but has to be accompanied, including to the toilet. She is able with help to get in and out of cars. She still has a good appetite and likes going out for meals. She has also got a wheelchair should that be required for longer trips.
She is a very intelligent lady who is well informed, and has keen interest in literature and the news. She is also the head of a large family with two sons, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren of whom she is very proud. Her youngest son lives in Cheltenham, as do two of her grandchildren. Her older son lives in Dalkeith in Scotland.
We are looking for someone to take Shirley on outings– including to the theatre, cinema, shops and meals out. Payment for trips will be provided. She would also be happy to visit sites of interest, such as gardens, historic houses etc.
We are looking for a mature female companion with their own transport who is caring and good at making conversation, and who would be happy to take Shirley on trips out.
The ideal person would be proactive and enthusiastic about suggesting outings and ideas of things to do. Someone with previous experience is essential.
Full clean driving license and DBS check required.
Tuesday and Thursday. Morning and afternoon, times to be agreed.
