Job Reference: WAK1441316AW1 Expires: 27th June 2018
I am looking to recruit a Personal Assistant to support my 7 year old son and 6 year old daughter. Both children have complex care needs and behavioural issues and require varied support with day-to-day activities.
My son has diagnoses of Autism and Cerebral Palsy which have a substantial effect on both his mobility and behaviour. He is doubly incontinent and requires assistance with changing which will include some manual handling. He does struggle with communication and can sometimes become frustrated with this, causing him to become physical at times. He also has a severe allergy to long haired dogs.
My son is a very delightful and inquisitive little boy who loves adult company. He enjoys playing on his iPad and loves Thomas the Tank Engine.
My daughter suffers with a complex brain condition and as a result of this is registered blind. She does have some sight but careful attention needs to be given to ensure her safety. She is doubly incontinent and so will also require assistance with changing; however we are in the process of toilet training her.
My daughter is a typical girly girl and loves everything to do with horses and horse riding. She is a quite a confident little girl with lots of energy and is always a pleasure to be around.
The Personal Assistant will be required to provide a variation of support and assistance with the following:
Meal preparation and feeding
Administering medication (oral only)
Playing and encouraging learning of new skills
Accompanying on social outings, e.g. park, shopping, etc.
Monitoring the children’s safety at all times
Other duties may be required but these will be discussed beforehand.
The successful candidate will be patient, conscientious and attentive to my children’s needs at all times.
They will have an excellent attention to detail and understand the importance of my children’s safety and well-being, as they have no sense of danger.
The Personal Assistant will have a youthful outlook and as this could potentially be quite a physical role at times, have a reasonable level of fitness.
Training will be provided by the employer.
Car owner and full valid driving license is desirable (business insurance required). You may be asked to use your car in the course of your duties.
Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered)
Term time: late afternoons/evenings (after school) and possibly some weekends
School holidays: days and times to be negotiated but may include some weekend work (will be discussed further at interview)
