Job Reference: JC 6.1 Expires: 18th June 2018
I am a very happy 22-year old who lives at home with my family and who loves all things music-related. I enjoy varied social activities – shopping, the cinema, bowling and eating out. I love going to worship at my local church regularly and wish to access community events organised there, e.g. Saturday Cinema Club, talent contests, coffee mornings, etc.
I have quadriplegic cerebral palsy and use a specialised powered wheelchair at all times. I also have learning difficulties.
My mother would be your employer.
In general, you will support me to live as independently as possible and access the local community. Specific tasks will include:
All personal care – this would involve using a hoist and floor lift (assisting another support worker).
Encourage me to choose healthy meal options.
Help me to prepare and cook meals or treats.
Supervise me carefully at meal times and assist me when required.
Assist me with money managing and help me to stick to a budget.
Support me to access social activities and encourage variety with this.
Some household tasks, such as tidying and cleaning up after me in my bathroom and bedroom and putting away/sorting my laundry.
I’m looking for someone who is fun to be around, has a sense of humour and a bubbly personality. You will have a positive outlook on life, be caring, empathetic and also good with children and pets.
It is important to me that you can offer a degree of flexibility and are honest and reliable with good timekeeping skills. It’s also important you are respectful of my Christian faith.
Start and finish times are by agreement and can be discussed at interview but working regularly Monday to Friday is expected.
The post will be available through the summer and autumn. The position may become permanent when my son moves into his own flat towards the end of the year and a larger team of PAs will be required.
