Personal Assistant/Carer

Location: Coventry, Midlands Rate of Pay: £11.00 per hour

Hours per Week: 6 hours a week with a possibility to increase these hours

About the Employer

To provide support to a young child with Autism spectrum disorder.

Summary of Duties


Support my son with personal care as instructed in a sensitive and dignified manner. This includes support with brushing teeth, changing nappies, bathing and dressing for bed.

Build a relationship with my son.

Support with cutting/mashing up food and feeding and also to encourage self-feeding.

Assistance with sleep medication. 

Undergo relevant training for professional development.

Makaton trained individual preferred or a willingness to undertake Makaton training.

Experience of caring for young people who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorders and challenging behaviour preferred.

A commitment to a service which provides support to vulnerable individuals, which is respectful and according to the individuals’ wishes.

To report any problems/difficulties to mum.

Full UK Driving Licence and Vehicle.

Maintain the domestic environment to the required standard including general tidying up, ensuring regard is given to health and safety and hygiene.

To fully engage with my son in instructed and constructive play.



To arrive for work at the agreed time and give notification if you are going to be late.

To keep accurate records of hours worked.

Establish a close working relationship on a one-to-one basis and discuss and resolve problems as they arise.

Be open in communication and maintain means of contact as required.

Respect privacy and maintain a constant professional approach.

Previous experience working in the care sector or caring for young children with autism and/or learning difficulties preferred.


Needs can vary on a daily basis, therefore duties and tasks may alter accordingly. You are reasonably expected to perform duties of a similar or related nature to those outlined above.

If there are to be significant changes to your job description, I reserve the right to give you not less than one month’s notice in writing of these, and you will be deemed to have accepted them unless you notify me of your objection in writing before the end of the notice period.

This job requires a satisfactory DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) as part of the employment process.

The Times Required

Times required: approximately 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm.

Days required: 3 days a week between Monday to Friday. To be discussed at an interview.
