I am a young woman with Autism and a learning disability who wishes to employ a Personal Assistant/Carer to join my friendly team in supporting me with my active life style and daily living tasks. I live at home with my Mum and I need support to enable me to live as independently as possible and fulfil my aspirations.
My interests include going to Zumba, Swimming, visiting the library and socializing/days out.
I do have Pets including foster cats and a dog all of which are friendly
I am based in Rugby. You will need a clean driving licence as I may need transport to access activities with own vehicle and business insurance.
I can be unsteady on my feet and prefer linked arms to make me feel safe.
I have a fear of escalators so communication skills will be needed to reassure me.
Knowledge of autism and working in social care will be useful.
Highlighted training could be provided but previous care experience is required and you must be of a caring nature. The position will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
The ideal candidate will be adaptable and flexible with their working time and hours and be able to react to shift cover needs where other team members fall ill or are on annual leave.
You will need to be mindful of where I am at all times and be able to take things at my relaxed pace
Your specific responsibilities will depend on the hours you work and what part of my daily routine this covers.
For example you may be asked to: Help and assist me with personal care dressing, toileting, hair care and general cleanliness when we are out in the community as my main personal care needs are met by an agency prior to the support session starting.
Be capable of writing clear notes in the daily diary using professional and respectful language and report any accidents
Complete time Sheets
Administer dietary supplements and homeopathic remedies
Be prepared to undertake moving and handling, emergency first aid at work, and health and safety training, and learn new skills where necessary
Support me to Cook healthy nutritious meals
Drive and escort me to my engagements and activities and assist me in accessing facilities outside my home in the day or evening
Support me to live a fulfilling life and realise my aspirations
Treat my home with care and respect
Listen patiently and respectfully
Carry out any other reasonable requests I may make
Ensure appointments are entered in my diary and on the PA wall calendar
To respect my privacy whilst being aware of the need for confidentiality in all aspects of your work
To perform any other duties as is reasonably required.
Experience of working in the care sector is desirable but not necessary, as training can be provided

Be physically able and strong enough to support me
Be flexible, accepting that working hours will vary and occasionally
Be willing to help where possible to cover for a shift in an emergency

Wednesday - 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.
There is also availability to cover Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday when your fellow employee is on annual leave or sick leave.
You are entitled to 5.6 weeks annual leave per year (pro rata which includes bank and statutory public holidays).
