This post is to support an 18 year old girl who has autism. She is a friendly person who enjoys going to the shops (she enjoys watching the automatic doors), eating out and colour matching. She enjoys listening to music and particularly likes watching reality and celebrity programmes.
She requires assistance to access a range of activities with the community e.g. going to the local trampoline park, ensuring all support is personalised to her as an individual and promoting her independence.
Duties will include:
Driving the young lady to different activities (driver and access to your own vehicle is a requirement). This will include going to the shops and going bowling, looking at assisting her to learn more life skills and supporting her to be more independent such as enabling her to pay for things with assistance.
Once she starts at college, some of the support will be to pick her up from college and support her with an activity.
The ideal candidate will:
Be a responsible person with a good sense of humour and a flexible approach who must be a car owner and willing to drive the young lady to and from activities. Vehicle Business Insurance is required.
Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered).
Previous experience with autism or experience in a similar would be an advantage.
Be reliable and committed to the role, able to develop an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect.
Must be assertive and able to use their initiative.
You should be able to provide high quality care and support.
