Job Reference: WAK1439942AW1 Expires: 26th February 2018
I am looking to employ a Support Worker to assist me with my 8 year old son. He is hearing and visually impaired, and has some mobility issues.
He is a very charming and cheeky boy with a trusting nature, and unfortunately can be unaware of the dangers around him. This makes him very vulnerable and so he requires close supervision at all times.
He enjoys the outdoors, including parks and water, and also likes to attend soft play areas where he can burn off his excess energy.
We have two family pet dogs.
The main purpose of the role is to accompany my son on social outings and assist him with different types of activities.
You will support him to access different facilities in the community such as parks and indoor play areas.
You will also encourage creative, stimulating and educational activities within the home and support me in maintaining his well-being.
The right candidate will have an excellent attention to detail and be accurate and conscientious as it is vital that my son’s safety is monitored at all times.
You will also be patient and have a willingness to learn – my son uses signing to communicate and you will be encouraged to undertake training to improve your understanding of this (training to be discussed).
In order to be considered for the role you will need to have a confident nature and be comfortable being assertive with my son. He requires this level of guidance in order to feel secure and this is often reflected in his behaviour.
Experience of working with children with complex needs will be an advantage.
There may be an expectation to undergo training whilst employed but this will be discussed at interview.
Car owner and full valid driving license desirable (business insurance required).
Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered).
Saturdays – no set times/to be discussed
