Day carers and night time carers are needed to work in a team to support Lily, who is a cheerful 98 year old lady. Lily has limited hearing, suffers from anxiety and short term memory loss, but is mobile with some support.
You will be employed by her daughter.
You will be required to work flexibly to support Lily with all aspects of her personal care.
This will include washing, dressing and feeding her. You will also need to assist with meal preparation and the provision of medication.
On occasions, you may be asked to interact with her in social activities within the home.
You must also be willing to cover the other carers during their holiday periods where possible and work some bank holidays.
The successful candidate(s) must be willing to be introduced to the role gradually over a short period of time for Lily to get to know you (and vice versa) and so you can learn her routine. This will be discussed in more detail at the interview.
You will need to have relevant previous experience of working in this field of work and hold an NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care, as a minimum. You will also need to have relevant training in recognising and dealing with characteristics of dementia.
The right candidate must also be kind, calm, gentle and patient; be reliable, have a good eye for detail and have a good sense of humour.
Please be mindful that this is a non-smoking household and therefore smoking will not be allowed on the premises.
A DBS may be required.
Day time carers
A total of up to 105 hours are available per week (Mon-Sunday), to be shared with up to 4 carers.
The amount of hours to be worked is flexible and can be worked in blocks of between 3 -6 hours at a time. This will be to cover hours between 7am until 10am, 10am until 1pm, 1pm until 4pm, 4pm until 7pm and 7pm until 10pm. Subject to your availability, alternative timings may be discussed at interview.
Night time carers
There is also the opportunity for 1-2 night carers to work on a casual basis as and when available. The night shifts are to cover 10pm until 7am (waking nights).

You must be willing to work bank holidays and to cover the other carer during holiday periods.
