A 26 year old male with mild learning difficulties, atypical autism, infrequent and controlled epilepsy, very sociable with a great sense of humour, enjoys active lifestyle – has many hobbies: passionate about go karting – drives once a week, enjoys shopping and visits to the city centre and spending time with his girlfriend, regularly goes swimming and gym, loves theme parks and days out. Attends college 4 days a week.
To support young adult with various aspects of independent living skills and social interactions including:
Preparing simple meals
Cleaning bedroom/bed changing
Light shopping/money management
Walking to local amenities/safe road crossing/stranger danger
Prompt with personal hygiene
Accompanying and supervising the young adult to visit friends
Accompanying and taking active part in various leisure activities including swimming, gym, go karting, theme parks, cinema
Providing emotional support when required regarding relationships and friendships
Support with using iPad and social media
The suitable person for this role will possess the following qualities:
Outgoing, energetic, with a great sense of humour
Enjoys and promotes active lifestyle
Experienced, confident in supporting individuals with high functioning autism/mild learning difficulties
A driver with a car is essential
Required on Fridays for 6-7 hours, possibly on some week day evenings for 2-3 hours and at weekends for 2-3 hours.
May in the near future need support for an hour or an hour and half from 7 am to 8.30 am on week days.
Days and hours are negotiable.
