Friendly, reliable and enthusiastic individuals required to provide assistance for a 26 year old man to enable him to be independent.
He is a wheel chair user, is a very sociable person and has a good sense of humour.He has limited speech and uses a sign board to communicate.
He enjoys a range of activities including trips to the theatre. He is also looking at planning short trips away in the future.
To accompany and support the gentleman to attend events/ activities within the local area and further field including theatre trips and music concerts. This may involve overnight support within his home or accompanying him on trips away.
To provide assistance with the gentleman's daily routine including support with personal care including toileting, washing and dressing. There will be manual handling within the role as the gentleman uses a hoist for transfers - training can be provided.
To assist the gentleman at meal times which may including preparing the meals.
The ideal person will have a good sense of humour, and should also display plenty of energy, initiative and enthusiasm. They must also be reliable, friendly and punctual.
The right person will need to spend time time getting to know the gentleman in order to build, and develop, a trusting relationship.
It would be desirable if applicants have an up to date manual handling qualification but training can be provided.
It is essential that applicants have a full valid driving license as they may be required to transport the gentleman in his mobility vehicle.
Be flexible, hours of work may change from week to week, this will be with mutual agreement with the employer and employee.
Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered)
