This post is to support a 10 year old boy in the Deeside area. He is a chatty, friendly, very polite and caring young man who has a passion for films and hand puppet shows, particularly Punch and Judy.
He enjoys swimming, going on trampolines and getting out and about.
He has autism, and the main support involves taking him out in the community and assisting him to socialise and take part in different activities.
The role of the personal assistant will be to assist the young man to access a range of activities within the local community, to support him to build up his confidence, promote his social skills and enable him to increase his independence with support.
The ideal candidate will:
Be a responsible person with a good sense of humour and a flexible approach who must be a car owner and willing to drive the child to and from activities. Vehicle Business Insurance is required.
You will have to undertake a DBS (criminal records check), costs to for this is covered.
Previous experience with autism or experience in a similar role is essential.
Be reliable and committed to the role, able to develop an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect.
Must be assertive and able to use their initiative.
Support during school term time will be evenings and/or weekends.
During the Summer school holidays, the support may include week days.
