Young man (aged 22) with a number of learning disabilities, autism and complex epilepsy. He likes routines and lives with his loving, supportive family. The young man already has an established caring team and we are looking at extending this team. This is a no smoking household due to health issues.
Caring and reliable person required to work alongside the family. Preferably have experience of working with young adults/adults with learning disabilities and epilepsy. Duties will include taking care of all his personal and health needs, feeding as well as some light housekeeping duties (ironing). Possibly going walking and could also support him in accessing the community. There are some days where the young man will just want to sit in the comfort of his own home watching dvd’s. You would be required to help to move him to a safe place when he is having a seizure and also administer his medication. You will always be working with another member of staff or a family member.
I am looking for someone who has experience of autism, epilepsy and/or learning difficulties. First aid training and experience of administering medication would also be an advantage. A DBS check will be carried out before any person will be employed and references will also be required.
Every other Sunday 7.45am-12.45pm or 9.45am – 2pm, occasionally 7.45am – 2pm. Additional shifts to cover sick leave and holidays, Must be available to work some shifts Friday to Tuesday over the August bank holiday weekends.
