To provide support and personal care for an 18 year old male from Thorpe-on-The-Hill near Lincoln, who has learning disabilities, mild autism and epilepsy.
He has no danger awareness and his epileptic seizures can be frequent. With larger seizures he can be aggressive just before or after they happen and this is usually directed at himself or objects such as furniture.
This will be for support for either social inclusion or at his home. He enjoys going to The Showroom, shopping, swimming, would like to join a gym, rock music and going to the cinema.
You will be required to drive him to any activities; any expenses will be paid.
Building his confidence and keeping him safe will be important.
Previous experience of supporting someone with these conditions would be an advantage; you should also have a genuine interest in supporting people.
You should be able to provide high quality care and support and should possess the motivation to develop trust and understanding within the role.
You should be hardworking, reliable, honest, patient and be committed to the role
Being a driver and full use of your own vehicle is essential.
Flexibility would be an advantage as the hours may be variable – this will be discussed at the interview.
A DBS check will be required for this position.
The 4 hours p/w will be on either weekends or evenings.
During school holidays extra hours from 10.30am to 2.30pm Mon to Fri, possibly spilt between 2 workers.
