I am looking for a Personal Assistant to support my 8 year old daughter who has microcephaly with severe globally developmental delays, severe learning difficulties, microphalmia, sensory disorder and slight autism. She also has hyper mobile joints, hypertonia , is a wheelchair user, and cannot verbally communicate. She is reliant on an adult for all her daily and personal needs. She is a very happy, very loving little girl. Always laughing and always has a smile on her face. She just loves one to one attention and companionship. She loves to go swimming and go for walks in her wheelchair, as well as visiting the park, the zoo and soft play centres.
To be friendly and tactile to support my daughter
Assist with personal care including changing pads in a sensitive and dignified manner
To support my daughter to take part in planned leisure activities
To research and plan activities in advance
To be able to push my daughter in her wheelchair as required and to support her to walk when she is out of her wheelchair
To be able to identify any risks or issues that may affect my daughter and her quality of life
To ensure my daughters safety and wellbeing at all times with specify regard to adhering to my daughter’s soft diet due to risk of choking.
To be vigilant of my daughter’s vulnerability when out and about as she does not have any awareness of danger.
The successful candidate will have experience of working with disabled/special needs children
Flexibility with working hours and days is a requirement of the role.
Car owner/driver essential (business insurance required).
(Appropriate mileage allowance will be paid).
Motorway driving will be a requirement of the role and therefore the successful candidate will need to be confident in driving on motorways.
During school term time - 2.5 hours per week which will take place one evening after school. Day to be agreed.
During school holidays - 14.5 hours per week. Days and time will be mutually agreed with the successful candidate.
