The vacancy is to support a happy, loving and confident 7 year old boy, who is blind, has epilepsy and was born with a condition called Septo Optic Displacia, which affects the development of the optic nerve and growth hormones.
He enjoys music,anything noisy and swimming.
Accompany and support him on trips and activities. Enthusiasm and the ability to think of fun things do together is essential.
If he starts to be sick, the worker needs to return him home because that can be a sign that his body is not soaking in the medication from his planned injections. This happens rarely but is a risk and the worker would need to be able to use an epipen in an emergency.
Training on injections will be provided if you don't already have it.
Could be male or female
Fun, reliable, caring and enthusiastic.
Prior experience and awareness of epilepsy or blindness would be an advantage
Willing to undertake training
Use of own car, business insurance and a driving license are preferred.
4 hours per week on a Saturday or Sunday but there is some flexibility.
