to the Summer 2011 issue of the Penderels Trust newsletter

This newsletter is dedicated to the memory of Julie Beecham, one of the very first

people supported by Penderels Trust, who sadly passed away on 8th April 2011, aged 48 years.

Penderels Trust is delighted to have been awarded the contract to provide independent living advice for people in the area served by East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

The new contract started on 1st April 2011 and is being delivered by the team based in our new office in Beverley. We are currently working in partnership with the outgoing provider, Wilf Ward Trust, to ensure a smooth handover for everyone who uses the service.

Once again, this newsletter arrives at a time of continuing change. Much of this change is due to the cuts in social care funding which we know will be affecting many of you directly over the coming months.

Penderels Trust are working hard to develop new services and new ways of providing existing services to fit in with the needs of people who are receiving their care funding in a different way (or simply receiving less money as the eligibility criteria is tightened).

We are working closely with the local authorities in the affected areas to ensure that individuals receive continuity of care and are able to access the support they need on an ongoing basis.

We will keep you updated on these developments during the year through this newsletter, our website and local ‘open events’ that we are holding as well as through your own local office teams.

As always, we rely on feedback from those who use our services and there are many different ways in which you can be involved in shaping the support you receive.
