Payroll Manager

About the Role

Penderels Trust is currently looking for someone to be responsible for the day to day operation of The Trust’s payroll bureau and to oversee its ongoing development. They will also be responsible for leading a team of people with the purpose of delivering a high quality payroll service to employers.

The Role

37 hours per week

Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm

£30,000 per annum

As a Payroll Manager, your main duties will include:

  • To participate in the recruitment and induction of new staff and to provide training and supervision to all staff within the department. To oversee team development and growth.
  • To oversee the maintenance of the day to day payroll processing service using the relevant payroll software.
  • To liaise with HMRC, pension scheme providers, the DWP and other associated service providers on all relevant queries.
  • To responsible for processing employee payroll for The Trust’s staff.
  • To participate in meetings as required, promoting and developing the Trust payroll services. This may require traveling to national venues.
  • To develop and conduct quality control reviews on a regular basis.
  • To assist in the development of new payroll policies and procedures.
  • To be responsible for ensuring the payroll bureau operates within the law, keeping management informed on any new developments, legislation or relevant information.
  • To provide information, statistics and reports to management and all relevant authorities.
  • To maintain confidentiality in line with the Data Protection Act and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) at all times.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following attributes:

  • Previous experience of working with PAYE.
  • Previous management and supervisory experience.
  • Previous experience of using payroll software.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise effectively.
  • Ability to maintain and produce comprehensive and accurate records and reports.
  • Ability to manage, direct and motivate staff.
  • Comprehensive understanding of all Microsoft packages.
  • Hold minimum GCSE Grade 'C' or equivalent in English and Maths, a qualification in CIPP would be desirable.
