I'm looking for a PA for my 15 year-old son who lives in the Earlsdon area with his family.
He is an active boy who enjoys being outside. He has a learnig disability, glaucoma and epilepsy and needs one to one support. He can become very anxious at times and may take time to communicate. His awareness of danger is limited.
Summary of Duties
Duties will include:
• Spending quality time with my son – either at home or outside.
• Encouraging him to be more independent but recognising he’s comfortable with things he knows and is familiar with.
• Taking him out on days for activities, shopping or visits.
Personal care is involved (assistance/prompts with washing, drying dressing) and occasionally assistance with the toilet, but moving & handling isn’t required.
You must be patient, understanding and calm. You will have good non-verbal communication skills and be able to work with us to follow and build on identified strategies to help reduce my son’s anxiety.
Experience of working with people who have a learning disability and epilepsy would be advantageous but are not essential.
The successful applicant will be required to have an enhanced DBS check.
I’m looking for a PA who is trustworthy and reliable, who can offer flexible support at times when required and who will work with us to promote a healthy lifestyle.
I require support every day after school and some time at the weekend by agreement. A total of around 16 hours a week, with more available by agreement in school holidays. Reliability, flexibility and good timekeeping are essential.
