About the Employer

I am a disabled woman living in the Bedworth area that needs assistance with some aspects of day to day living. I am looking to employ a personal assistant to help with my personal care and to carry out daily tasks.

As my Personal assistant you will be required to provide the personal care I need to enable me to live the way I choose. I am looking for someone who is reliable and willing to be flexible. You will need to have an understanding of the need for confidentiality and the ability to respectfully work and communicate with me and my husband in our home.


Summary of Duties

Personal tasks

  • Help with mobility inside or outside the home.
  • Help getting up in the morning
  • Assistance with washing, drying and dressing.
  • Occasionally helping prepare meals.
  • All aspects of personal care.
  • Driving me to, and assistance with social outings, using my motability Vehicle, training will be given as this is a wheelchair access vehicle.
  • Using disability equipment inside or outside the home.

 

Domestic Tasks

  • Light household tasks.
  • Laundry and ironing.
  • Hygienic cleaning.

 

Health and safety:

  • You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You must record all details in an accident book.
  • You have a duty to report defects and or hazards, which give rise to an accident.

 

Supervision:

  • As my personal assistant, you will be directed and accountable to me and my family in all aspects of your work. You should always ask what my needs are and listen to my directions and requests.

The Person They Are Looking For

  • DBS check if required- cost met by local authority
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • To understand the principles of empowerment and the ability to support in exercising choice and control
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels
  • Ability to work unsupervised and with their own initiative
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Experience of delivering personal care
  • Knowledge of the needs of vulnerable people
  • Good listening skills.
  • A commitment to a service which provides support which is respectful and according to my wishes.
  • Commitment to anti-oppressive and non-discriminatory practice
  • Ensure needs are met through planning and reviewing
  • To ensure my safety at all times.

The Times Required

Friday: 08:00 - 10:30

Saturday: 08:00 - 10:30

Sunday: 08:00 - 10:30

PLUS: 2 hours flexible over a 4 week period agreed in advance
