He enjoys crosswords and discussions about travel, and given the right topic will engage in great conversation. He also likes to attend the local pub and loves horse racing.
The main purpose of the role is to provide clear and confident prompting to ensure my father carries out various tasks such as personal care (washing/dressing) and taking medication. There is, however no requirement to carry out these tasks on his behalf.
The Personal Assistant will also be required to provide support with/carry out the following tasks:
· preparation of meals and monitoring food intake
· accompanying on social outings, i.e. cafes, parks, walks
· support with and/or carrying out personal tasks outside the home, i.e. hair appointments, shopping

Other duties may be required but these will be discussed beforehand.
The successful candidate will have a confident manner, and be caring but assertive when ensuring my father carries out necessary tasks that will enable his personal needs to be met.
You will be trustworthy and reliable, and be willing to work additional hours (if required) to cover annual leave and sickness.
You will also be willing to build a strong relationship with my father and other members of the close family.
Applicants must be willing to undertake on-the-job training.
Experience in a similar role or with Alzheimer’s generally would be an advantage.
Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered).
