I am a young lady who has had a stroke. As a result, I have Aphasia. However, my condition does not stop me from wanting to enjoy life. I like to go swimming and I enjoy shopping, going to shows and events and to the pub but I need help to do the things that I enjoy.
I need help with:
Personal care – showering and toileting, getting dressed
Daily exercises ( which will help to improve my mobility)
Attending social events
I am looking for staff who can be:
Flexible (may need to occasionally cover other staff absences and sickness/ annual leave etc.)
Patient (you should have experience in supporting a stroke survivor and have an easy-going, calm nature).
A good communicator with excellent social skills (you must be able to speak clearly and enjoy engaging me in conversation. As well as being my personal assistant you should be fun to be around with a friendly, approachable personality.
You will be working alongside another PA as I require double-up support.
I would prefer a non-smoking member of staff as the smell can make me poorly.
You should have some experience of using a rotary stand and have some manual handling skills (but training can be provided).
Experience and the willingness to drive our mobility car would be preferred as I will want to go out and have some social time in the community.

X 2 PAs– Wednesday to Saturday (Times negotiable - to be discussed)
