We are looking for a caring, patient and re-assuring individual to support an elderly couple living in the Hope area. They have lived in the area for over 60 years and have family living within the area.
They are a very socialable couple who enjoy banter, both with a good sense of humour.
They have previously enjoyed travelling, dancing and singing.
The couple require additional support to enable them to live independently and comfortably within their own home. The husband has Vascular Dementia.
The role is to support the couple with everyday living and the daily routines.
This will include supporting both the husband and wife with personal care, including support with dressing, washing, and support with toileting. The wife has a stoma bag and training will be provided on supporting her with this.
The husband does require assistance with turning as he is bed bound so there will be an element of manual handling.
You will also be preparing meals and support at meal times
They will require assistance with medication including prompting with medication.
There may also be a requirement to complete light domestic duties including laundry.
The right individual will be someone who is patient and have a caring and respectful disposition. They will need to be able to offer reassurance and have a calming nature.
You should be able to provide high quality care and support and should possess the motivation to develop trust and understanding within the role.
Previous experience in a similar role would be an advantage.
Due to the nature of the role, good housekeeping and cooking skills would be an advantage.
Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered)
