We are seeking an experienced, reliable individual to support a 14 year old boy in the Mold area.
The young man has a visual impairment and requires assistance to access activities that the young man would like to try including skate parks, local sport groups, and the RNIB events.
He is an intelligent, sociable young man who enjoys trying out new activities and sports.
The role is to accompany and support the young man to access a wide variety of social and recreational activities such as events run by the RNIB and sport clubs in the area.
Due to his visual impairment, the personal assistant will be required re-assure him and encourage him in social situations within the local community in order to promote his confidence.
Have experience of working with children with special needs with an awareness of the rewards and challenges the work brings.
Be willing to attend additional training which can be provided if necessary.
Have the ability to develop a supportive and encouraging relationship as you will be a role model for the young man.
Have a youthful outlook and a passion for helping young people
Be vigilant and confident in nature
Car owner and full valid driving license preferred (business insurance required) as you may be required to transport my son in your own vehicle. Occasionally public transport could be used.
Be flexible, hours of work may change from week to week, this will be with mutual agreement with the employer and employee.
Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered)
During term time, the hours of support will be evenings and / or weekends.
During the school holidays, more flexibility may be required but this will discussed prior to the school holidays.
