Location: Stratford Upon Avon, Midlands Rate of Pay: £9.00 per hour & £28.50 sleep-in rate

About the Employer

I am a lady living in Stratford-Upon-Avon, who is looking to build a team of personal assistants to enable me to live as independently as possible in my own home. I am very proud of my achievements and need support to empower me to do even more and to achieve my personal ambitions. I have a cat & two guinea pigs that play a big part in my life – so the successful applicants must be able to get on with cats and guinea pigs.

Summary of Duties

The main duties are:-
 

To support me on a one to one basis and to co-operate with me, my representatives and other team members in meeting my needs.

To support me to maintain and develop daily living skills.

To support me with all aspects of personal care as necessary (e.g. washing, bathing and getting dressed).

To support me with medical appointments and my medication.

To support me during activities at the gym, swimming sessions (you will need to support me in the pool) going on walks and Wii fit.

To assist me with my college homework, and recreational activities, including IT and telephone support.

To undertake normal domestic duties, as necessary, in my home, such as washing, ironing, cooking and cleaning.

To organise and participate in events, activities and experiences which involve me in the local community in a positive manner.

To accompany me and provide full support on short breaks and holidays.

To encourage and enable me to make and maintain relationships with friends, family and neighbors.

To transport me to and from my home and various locations on a daily basis as necessary. I have my own car. Mileage will be paid if using your own car.

To undertake any other reasonable tasks or duties as specified by myself, or my representatives.

The ability to work on a one to one basis with me and as part of the team in providing support for myself.

The ability to work flexibly within the team to ensure continuity of service during periods of annual leave and sickness.

The ability to empower me in reaching my full potential in all aspects of independent daily living.

The ability to communicate effectively with me and to put me at the centre of all you do whilst supporting me.

The ability to take responsibility for my well being and or the safety and security of my home, my possessions and my cat.

The ability to support me with all aspects of personal care.

The ability to support me to care for my cat & guinea pigs, including cleaning out a litter tray & hutch as and when necessary, feeding, grooming, applying medication when necessary and attending the vets.

The ability to support me to maintain my home e.g. washing, ironing, cleaning, cooking, gardening and other household duties.

To understand and demonstrate a healthy lifestyle and to take a positive and active role in activities such as walking, swimming and attending the gym

To be a non-smoker

The ability to organise and participate in events, activities and experiences which involve me in the local community in a positive manner.

The ability to encourage and maintain positive relationships with friends, family and neighbors.

The ability to communicate effectively with college and day centre staff, health and other professionals, my family / representatives, and other organisations related to my day to day activities.

The ability to read, follow and contribute to policy documents, support plans, and risk assessments.

To be able to produce accurate, straightforward records and reports.

To understand the importance of maintaining confidential information.

To possess basic IT skills in order to support me in educational and recreational IT activities such as laptop and iPad.

The ability to cope under pressure and in stressful situations whilst maintaining security and stability for me.

To be reliable, punctual, and honest.

To possess a full clean driving licence and be able to drive a car for use in taking me between my home and various other locations.

The ability to maintain your professional development.

To demonstrate initiative and possess creative skills that can enhance the quality of the service I receive.

To demonstrate respect and dignity at all times

The ability to maintain the highest levels of professionalism and integrity at all times in the performance of your duties.

The following are viewed as DESIRABLE, but not essential:

Previous experience within the care sector.

Previous experience working with adults with learning disabilities.

Qualifications in care such as a relevant Diploma Level or evidence of relevant training especially completion of LDQ or equivalent.


The Times Required

A range of hours are available from 20 to 35 with 2 to 3 sleep ins per week - to be agreed.

Typical hours are :-

Afternoons/Evenings – 3.30pm/4.30pm to 10.30pm
Sleep-ins- 10.30pm to 7.30am/8.30am
Mornings – 7.30am to 9.30am
Day time hours at weekends
