I have a brain injury and the condition M.E. which means that I need support with many aspects of daily living. I volunteer a few hours a week, and I am hoping to recruit a Personal Assistant who can help me live an independent life.
As my Personal Assistant your job will be to provide personal, domestic and social support. You must be reliable and able to work flexible hours. You must also be able to respect my privacy and have an understanding of the need for confidentiality in all areas of this work. You will also be able to work on your own initiative
You will help to enable me to carry out any chosen activity whether inside or outside my home, by carrying out any other requests which I may reasonably make.
You will need to be a car owner and driver and will need Business Insurance on your car to take me out. Petrol expenses will be paid at 40p per mile for mileage used to take me out.
My Personal Assistant must be able to handle the physical skills of lifting, pushing, and bending. You do not have to be physically strong to do this but it does help, as does good general health.
Help with mobility both in and outside the home. (Although I am fully ambulant, I do occasionally require extra help)
Although I can manage most aspects of my personal care, there are times I may need help showering, getting dressed.
Help with preparation of food, making lunch etc.
Help with attending and organising appointments (hospital, dentist etc.)
Helping me maintain contact with my family and friends.
Supporting me to deal with my correspondence (such as phone calls, letter writing, filing, paying bills etc.)
Collecting prescriptions/reminding me to take my medication.
Assisting with getting to and taking part in social activities such as visiting the gym, swimming and seeing family and friends.
Assist me to help me look after my cat.
Light Household tasks.
Laundry and ironing.
Changing bed linen.
Shopping and putting away.
Assist with cleaning out my pet cat.
As my Personal Assistant you will be directed by and accountable to me in all aspects of your work. You should always ask what my needs are and listen to my directions and requests.
Health and safety
You have a duty as an employee to report all accidents to your employer immediately. You must record all details in the accident book.
You have a duty as an employee to report all defects and or hazards which may give rise to an accident.
You must hold a driver's licence as well as owning a car. You will also need business class insurance. Petrol expenses and mileage will be paid when taking me out.
You must be able to handle the phyiscal skills of lifting, pushing and bending. You do not need to be physically strong to do this but it does help, as does good general health.
You must be reliable and be able to work flexible hours.
You must also respect my privacy and have an understanding of the need for confidentiality in all areas of this work.
You will also be able to work on your own initiative.
The post is subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check at the employers request prior to commencing employment. This is confidential and at no cost to yourself.
You need a full clean driving license and be a car owner with business insurance, mileage paid.
The post carries a 3 month probationary period.
Saturday & Sunday: 11:00 am - 1:30 pm and 6:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Flexibility is required in order to accommodate the needs of the employer.
